Journalist's Struggle to Survive

In Libya 4 NY Times journalists got trapped and in efforts ran to survive. Along side of the  eastern gate of Ajdabiya there was a road blockade of military. journalists who passed them by warned them not to go near due to the fact the Qaddafi forces were in the city. With that the journalists worried about being blacked in by all of the armed forces, but they still continued on. As they got closer to the gate they were able to see the military, they screamed out the door saying that they were Journalists, but that didn't matter to the armed men. All 4 journalists were drugged out of the car at the check point, and before they knew it everything turned for the worst.
"Even before the soldiers had time to speak, rebels attacked the checkpoint with what sounded like rifles and medium machine guns. Bullets flew around us, and the soft dirt popped. Tyler broke free and started running. Anthony fell on a sand berm, then got to his feet and followed Tyler, who, for a moment, considered making a run for it."
In that situation those reporters were lucky to get out of that situation alive, especially with a barrage of bullets all over the place. Sadly they were recaptured and their hands and feet were bound. One of the soldiers wanted to kill them, but luckily since the reporters were American they decided to keep them alive. Luckily these men knew that if they had killed these reporters then there would be a serious problem between them and the U.S. In the end the Journalists were able to make it back to the boarder with the help of Turkish diplomats.
